OutsideShop (formerly Cairn), one of 40 brands at Outside Inc., curates and sells innovative and new-to-market products through a variety of services including subscriptions, content driven commerce, and a reverse auction. Through product, the team delivers inspiration, motivation, and knowledge to a diverse audience of passionate practitioners seeking to live an authentic, happier life. This primarily Bend based team is passionate about eCommerce, Outdoor gear, and the inspiration it provides.

This job can be 100% remote

Within 1 month, you will:

  • Understand the architecture of our existing tech stack and how data flows through it
    • Python
    • Shopify
    • GraphQL
    • Docker
    • Django
    • Celery (RabbitMQ)
    • Stripe
    • AWS
  • Have written and deployed code to production, for both small bug fixes and new releases
  • Become familiar with our product development process. We practice a modified version of the Shape Up process, and work in six week cycles.

Within 6 months, you will:

  • Collaborate within a small team of 2-3 developers and a product owner to figure out the best approach to evolve our eCommerce platform
  • Publish data into our supergraph
  • Contribute features to our new ecommerce platform

Within 12 months, you will:

  • Independently plan and develop of new features
  • Have built features in both our consumer front end and back office applications

What YOU bring to Outside: (Preferred Qualifications)

  • 3+ years of professional experience as a software engineer, including hands-on development, testing, debugging and ongoing maintenance of both new and existing code in a production environment
  • Experience creating scalable APIs using Python
  • Django or significant web experience in a similar framework
  • Experience with queries and views in SQL or Postgres
  • Comfort figuring out how code works without documentation
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, to document and articulate technical decisions
  • Willingness to learn in areas where you have less experience in our tech stack
  • Nice to haves:
    • Previous experience in e-commerce, with Shopify or another framework
    • Experience with agile development, such as scrum or kanban
    • Some exposure to front end technologies, such as HTML, CSS, JS or React

Entirely remote jobs that could be performed in Colorado: Employees can expect to be paid a salary of between $90,000 to $120,000. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission . Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, Flexible Time Away, sick leave, and more.
