Food & Recipe for Outside’s Healthy Living Group is responsible for leading the content strategy for recipe and food-related content for Clean Eating and cross-network syndication. The role will play a key role in developing and top-editing fresh, on-brand copy and new ideas for recipe and food content - on a daily basis. The role will be filled with an experienced editor with a strong story sense, capable of producing articles and packages that both drive traffic and engage readers’ interests with the end goal of converting members to Outside+. The position will also be responsible for identifying freelance writers and overseeing their work as well as managing the freelance budget.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, recipes and how nutrition plays a role in a healthy lifestyle. You should be analytics-minded, comfortable monitoring, reporting traffic goals (via Google Analytics and Parsley); executing e-commerce strategies with affiliate links; and identifying editorial and social growth opportunities for the web site.


  • Conceive, plan, and execute ambitious daily food content for Clean Eating, Vegetarian Times and related-content verticals
  • Conceive, plan, and execute a host of new content franchises, based on top performing content and membership conversion
  • Create and execute big-idea packages and collections pages for web
  • Contribute and help execute the quarterly production of Clean Eating magazine
  • Determine and execute best practices for affiliate link content and monitor revenue
  • Assist in monitoring, reaching, and exceeding online traffic and affiliate goals
  • Manage social media channels while collaborating with other departments (influencer, marketing, other editors)
  • Work closely with all departments including sales, marketing, development, and editorial
  • Monitor and analyze metrics to advise on decisions about site content


  • Minimum of 5 years creating recipe content for a digital-first editorial outlet
  • Expert understanding of latest nutrition, food and recipe trends
  • Strong understanding of SEO, including how to optimize content to reach the top of Google
  • Creative headline writing should be the #1 passion on the job
  • Ability to manage of network of freelancers and budget
  • Familiarity working with WordPress
  • The ability to shift gears quickly in a daily web publishing environment
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines
  • A strong service-journalism sensibility

Entirely remote jobs that could be performed in Colorado: Employees can expect to be paid a salary of between $55,000 to $80,000. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission .
