This exciting position puts you – literally and figuratively – at the heart of Colorado’s leading mountain-oriented broadcast media business. As a key contributor to Outside TV’s Denver and Summit County affiliate operations, you will be managing our two Silverthorne-based stations and supporting the growth of MTN-TV, our Denver broadcast partner. Splitting time between the two locations, you will be responsible for leading advertising sales, content production, distribution, and technical operations.
In this role, you will supervise a full-time video journalist and several freelancers, and you will work closely on production and sales with the MTN-TV team. Some days, you’ll be filming on-mountain stories from ski resorts in Summit County. Some days, you’ll be pitching local businesses on presenting sponsorships. Other days, you’ll be skunkworking new technology solutions. And occasionally you’ll be filing FCC reports or updating studio sets.
You will also collaborate with key members of the Outside Entertainment division, other station managers in our TV network, and stakeholders in Outside’s marketing, accounting, sales, and HR departments. Success in this role is defined by steady creation of quality local programming, achievement of revenue & margin targets, audience growth & engagement, and evolution of broadcasting practices to continually adapt to market changes.
Who is our ideal candidate? It’s someone who knows how local TV stations operate, how content gets produced, and how broadcast technology is evolving. But our next station manager must also bring a passion for engaging with clients and community to drive revenue and viewership. You must think and act with the urgency and initiative of a small business owner, because you will be making and selling the product.
Key Objectives & Responsibilities:
Like a small business owner, your primary objective is to ensure that your stations are profitable. You make this happen through compelling content and compelling sales. On a day-to-day basis, your top priorities are:
Your primary KPI will be an annual budget goal primarily driven by advertising sales targets.
