A Typical Day

You start your day reviewing the latest PRs and Slack conversations to see what’s been going on. Alerts from map update failures or build issues will show up in relevant channels. You might need to address something, or you might need to collaborate across multiple teams.

Reviewing Github PRs, you provide advice to your team contributors with a broad understanding of industry spatial tools, spatial search tools, cloud based solutions and container lifecycles. You provide design guidance and cloud based spatial processing knowledge to troubleshoot, optimize and help design new frameworks.

What you will do:

  • Work with the Maps Experience team to create backend mapping technologies that provide spatial search and vector tiles based results and map layers for the GaiaGPS and Trailforks Web/Apps
  • Provide team members with guidance on development and cloud deployment strategies.
  • Contribute to the spatial development workflow, toolchain and spatial data search and discovery

This describes you:

  • You are an avid outdoor enthusiast with a passion and affinity for maps and geospatial data
  • Cloud based processing, storage and network nuances
  • You have a sound understanding of cloud based workflows and understand cost performance trade-offs.
  • You have 6+ years of software engineering experience in geospatial software development
  • You have 3+ years working in cloud and containerized multi-processing pipelines.
  • You have 3+ years designing performant spatial search systems (Elasticsearch or other)
  • Your “go to” tools are python, GDAL, PostGIS and vector tile development libraries
  • You keep your finger on the pulse of geospatial tools and libraries
  • You’re a collaborative team player who celebrates the success of your team

Nice to have:

  • Experience working with Django, Node.js and API development.
  • Docker image creation and clustering experience.
  • Linux administration

Entirely remote jobs that could be performed in Colorado: Employees can expect to be paid a salary of between $140,000 to $175,000. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission . Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, Flexible Time Away, sick leave, and more.
