The ideal candidate will develop and lead an affiliate strategy across the Outside Inc network that is authentic, native, profitable, and in service of digital audiences and Outside+ Members. This foundational affiliate platform will help serve, inform and compliment well-rounded and robust eCommerce strategy.

The Senior Manager of Affiliate & Editorial eCommerce Strategy will work closely with editors and editorial content directors to develop a strategy that works seamlessly with existing editorial strategy that is engaging and in service of Outside audiences. This hand-in-hand work with the editorial teams is vital to the overall goal of creating useful reader service while also optimizing revenue opportunities through shoppable experiences and existing digital products, as well as any and all future projects. The APM will also need to work closely with production and product teams on the development of shoppable and eCommerce opportunities across the network that can be utilized by all departments including but not limited to newsletter, social, on-site display units, video, and content.

The Sr. Manager will also need to work closely with the Commerce Marketing team to test and develop eCommerce and affiliate opportunities that compliment membership efforts and create the most robust membership experience in the industry.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Direct on- and off-site Affiliate programs to drive towards exceeding our key performance metrics and customer acquisition goals
  • Establish a foundational affiliate strategy that will encourage/support the overall growth of Outside Inc eCommerce
  • Responsible for top and bottom line growth of Affiliate program to achieve sales, ROI, and total contribution goals
  • Manage Affiliate Team members to reach personal and professional goals that are in line with overall growth of Outside Inc and Outside+ efforts
  • Direct A/B testing, reporting, optimization and analysis of Affiliate channel to identify key levers and opportunities for improvement
  • Strategize and work cross-functionally with Editorial, Commerce Marketing, Product, and Analytics to achieve Outside Inc objectives
  • Establish Affiliate best practices, communicate and train cross functionally to maintain consistency and brand guidelines
  • Manage the team who will work closely with editors in execution of affiliate strategy, linking, and visibility across the digital platform.
  • Establish a robust set of affiliate and eCommerce KPIs
  • Provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting on affiliate performance
  • Research and analyze competitor programs, platforms, extensions, or tools to help drive affiliate success and increase overall affiliate growth
  • Develop new initiatives and opportunities through a robust test-and-learn approach to expand the channel and the business
  • Work closely with Membership Marketing team to identify how affiliate and membership growth can partner to create the ultimate membership experience
  • Manage affiliate partners and budget
  • Establish and manage partnerships and affiliate relationships to expand acquisition channels
  • Support the commerce marketing team in the coordination and execution of other online marketing channels and programs as needed to help grow eCommerce channel


  • 5+ years of digital marketing experience
  • University degree or equivalent within tech field or in Digital or E-Marketing preferred
  • Experience in managing and directing Affiliate Strategy, Affiliate Programs, budgets, and agency relationships
  • Solid Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong analytical skills

Entirely remote jobs that could be performed in Colorado: Employees can expect to be paid a salary of between $90,000 to $105,000. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission . Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, Flexible Time Away, sick leave, and more.
